University of Gymnastics @ Plano, Inc. was founded in 1979 by David and Lynda Rose in Plano, Texas. They were one of the first traditional gymnastics gyms in North Texas and saw a need for their area. All three of their children would become active in the sport in some way, shape of form.
However, it was the oldest, Dayna Rose Bland that would continue on to the University of Oklahoma on a full athletic scholarship for gymnastics. With the sport in her blood, she returned to Texas to help at her parents gym.
In 2000, Lynda was ready to retire and Dayna purchased U of G! Both of Dayna’s daughters were very active in the gym growing up, from being athletes, to coaching at the gym. Haley DeProspero (the oldest) continued on the University of Oklahoma on a full athletic scholarship in gymnastics and Ashley DeProspero (the youngest) followed her sister to OU and became a cheerleader. Both of the girls were outstanding student/athletes with incredible work ethic, something our sport had a hand in teaching.
